Half a million invested in improving energy efficiency and accessibility in Lorca homes
Through the initiative, Lorca City Council redoubles its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and stopping climate change
Lorca has received a subsidy of 500,000 euros from the Department of Urban Planning that will be used to update homes throughout the municipality in order to improve their energy efficiency and accessibility.
Each individual property will be entitled to a grant of up to 12,000 euros, up to a maximum of 50% of the cost of the work, and the renovations must be completed before December 31, 2027.
The main purpose of the investment, councillor Maria Hernandez explained earlier this week, “is to achieve the A energy rating in the properties, both in CO2 emissions and in consumption of non-renewable primary energy.
With support from Lorca City Council, the land company ‘Suvilor’ will manage the issuing of the grants, on top of providing technical and administrative advice to residents who wish to make the improvements to their homes. The team will provide these services from the new Rehabita Office based on the ground floor of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing, which is located in Complejo de la Merced.
However, “it is necessary to warn that users must make an appointment in advance, with the purpose of reducing processing times and improving customer service,” Ms Hernandez emphasised.
“The Rehabita Office is a pioneering service created by this City Council aimed at promoting urban and social regeneration in our municipality, with the main purpose of promoting the energy rehabilitation of buildings, making available to Lorca residents all the necessary resources,” the councillor explained.
“The Rehabita Office is also a fundamental part of our Master Plan for the Recovery of the Historic Center, and its launch was possible thanks to the financing obtained through the subsidy to Promote the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda in local entities in 2022, all to achieve a more sustainable future and a more livable Lorca, contributing to reducing climate change, by having homes with the highest energy rating in line with community regulations,” she concluded.
