ARCHIVED - Yellow alert for possible hailstorms in much of Murcia on Wednesday
The unsettled spring weather in the Costa Cálida continues into April
The unsettled weather which has predominated in the Costa Cálida since the start of spring on 20th March is forecast by Aemet to continue on Wednesday 1st April, when a yellow alert warning has been issued from 16.00 onwards for the possibility of thunder, lightning and hailstorms.
Aemet estimate a probability of such phenomena of between 40 and 70 per cent in the north and north-west of Murcia and in and around the regional capital. These storms will come on top of the rain which fell on Tuesday, the wettest places in the Region being Moratalla with 10.4 millimetres, Fuente Álamo (6 mm), Caravaca de La Cruz (4.8 mm) and Calasparra (4.4 mm).
In terms of temperatures the situation is unlikely to change much on Wednesday, with the expected afternoon highs reaching 16 degrees in Caravaca and Yecla and around 18 or 19 in Lorca, Cartagena and Murcia, while the outlook for Thursday is for more showers and rather cooler afternoon temperatures as the weekend approaches.
