Until June 11 Entries welcomed for the annual melon photography competition in Torre Pacheco

The Fiestas del Melón are being held in Torre Pacheco from June 16 to 18

So important is fruit and vegetable growing in the fertile soil of the Campo de Cartagena that there are an array of local fiestas dedicated to the star products of different villages and towns, and while La Puebla is enjoying its annual Potato Day on June 4, in Torre Pacheco preparations are ongoing for the annual Melon Fiestas which are to be held between June 16 and 18.

Prior to the main events the Town Hall is holding a melon photography competition entitled “El melón en todos sus sentidos”, with melon-themed entries welcomed from members of the public until June 11. The top prize on offer is a juicy 500 euros, as well as the privilege of seeing the winning photo on the poster of next year’s official Melon Fiestas poster!
