ARCHIVED - Two clinics in Cartagena and Torre Pacheco closed for carrying out fraudulent PCR tests
The centers were charging for PCR tests which were in effect, useless

It goes without saying that there’s always somebody seeking to profit from the misery of others and in every crisis enterprising fraudsters will find a way of making money.
The Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia has closed two clinics, located in the municipalities of Cartagena (Pozo Estrecho) and Torre Pacheco, after an internal investigation discovered that “PCR tests” were being carried out without the appropriate licensing required for such an activity and were in fact not PCR tests at all.
The Ministry confirmed that both centres had been closed as a “precautionary measure” pending a full investigation into the activities of the two clinics.
In both places, according to the investigation carried out by the Ministry's Health Services Inspection, "tests that were offered as PCR were in fact serology or antigen tests, which has repercussions on public health, as the tests offered do not diagnose whether the patient is currently infected or not."
Any centres offering PCR tests must be fully licensed to do so and have a corresponding laboratory contract in order for the test to be properly analysed and recorded by licensed laboratories, who must then pass the results onto the Health Ministry for inclusion in the official statistics and this was not the case with these two establishments. The health authority advises the public to request the health registration number when they go to a center of these characteristics to undergo this type of test and make sure that any centre offering these tests is fully licensed.
