ARCHIVED - The Guardia search for two armed robbers after Fuente Álamo petrol station stick-up
A cashier received a blow to the head with the butt of a pistol before the men made off with 5,000 euros
The Guardia Civil are searching for two armed robbers who held up a petrol station in Fuente Álamo on 25th May, one of them striking an employee a blow on the head with the butt of his pistol before they made off with approximately 5,000 euros from the till.
The robbery took place shortly before midnight but the perpetrators had been planning it beforehand and security camera footage shows them visiting the establishment earlier in the afternoon to assess the manner in which the heist would be carried out. According to the owner of the petrol station they would have been well aware that there was money in the till as cash payments to suppliers were due.
After nightfall the two men, hooded in an attempt to conceal their identities, returned, and while one remained at the door the other entered, took an ice-cream from the freezer, enquired about the price and then returned it. He then approached the cash desk with a gun in his hand and threatened the two female staff on duty.
One employee attempted to flee but was forced back inside by the man at the door, wielding a ham-slicing knife, and within two minutes the robbers had made off with their booty while both employees took refuge in storage room.
