ARCHIVED - December 1st; Falconry in Lorca castle
The normal entry price of just 6 euros incrases by just one euro on the falconry Sundays and Lorca Castle is open 7 days a week
Lorca castle is widely known as the “Fortaleza del Sol” or fortress of the sun, and during the best months of the year, when the cooler temperatures of autumn make the castle a perfect daytrip out, general entry is priced at just 6 euros (for adults, children aged 5-12 pay 5 euros), including a visit to the visitor centre in the Convento de la Merced at the foot of the hill beforehand.
The castle can be visited without prior booking seven days a week and is open until 17:30 in the evening.
The castle continues to offer a number of special guided tours throughout the autumn, either with or without the option of a set meal in the on-site cafetería and on three Sundays in November and the first Sunday in December offers the added attraction of a falconry display inside the castle at the additional cost of just one euro!
(Please note; this was originally erroneously advertised at 6 euros, not 7).
Alongside the falconry display visitors will be able to see the birds at close quarters, and admire these magnificent creatures.
The castle is also offering visitors the chance to join in with two guided tours to areas of the castle which are closed to the general public and only accessible via a guided tour, namely the Alfonsine tower and the Jewish quarter and synagogue.
The guided tours are in Spanish, but there are dual language information boards. The package also includes a set meal in the on-site cafetería.
These packages cost 25 euros for adults and include entry to the castle and falconry display, tours of the two closed areas and lunch. Children under 13 pay 15 euros.
The guided tours are at the following times:
Jewish quarter and synagogue at 11.30, 13.30 and 16.30
Alfonsine tower at 12.30 and 17.30
The falconry display takes place at 14.00.
Non-Spanish speakers can take an audioguide in English to follow their own route their own way around the castle, and tapas and refreshments can be purchased on an individual basis from the terrace café on site as required.
If you'd like to pre-purchase an entry ticket or book one of the packages, then click the red button for online booking or call the castle booking office on 968 47 90 03.
