See which stores and supermarkets are open on the October 12 holiday in Murcia 2023

This Thursday October 12 is a national bank holiday throughout Spain for ‘Spain Day’, meaning many shops, supermarkets and businesses will be shut for the day.

As it falls on a Thursday this year, some may even take the Friday off too to make it a long weekend.

For instance, popular Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona will be closing its doors on Thursday October 12, 2023 but will be open again on the Friday. Other businesses will take the opportunity to open on this day so that consumers can shop on their day off.

According to the 2023 calendar, there are four holidays left in the Region of Murcia this year, all of which are national public holidays for the whole of Spain too. These are Wednesday November 1 (All Saints’ Day); Wednesday December 6 (Constitution Day); on Friday December 8 (The Feast of the Immaculate Conception) and Monday December 25 (Christmas Day).

These are the supermarkets, large stores and shopping malls that will open their doors in the Region of Murcia this Thursday October 12:

El Corte Inglés: open from 11am to 9pm
Alcampo: open from 9am to 10pm
Carrefour: open usual business hours
IKEA: open from 10am to 10pm
MediaMarkt in Ronda Sur and Nueva Condomina: open from 10am to 10pm
La Noria Outlet: open from 10am to 10pm (restaurant hours will be from 9am to 10pm)
Parque Almenara shopping centre: open usual business hours
Nueva Condomina shopping centre: open from 10am to 10pm
Dos Mares shopping centre: open ‘every day of the year’ according to its website.
Thader shopping centre: open
Espacio Mediterráneo shopping centre in Cartagena: open every day of the year except December 25, January 1 and January 6.
