ARCHIVED - Puerto de Mazarrón health centre remains on red level due to high level of cases
The health centers of San Antón, in Cartagena, and Puerto de Mazarrón remain at red level, registering a "very high" rate of positive cases of covid-19 in their respective territories.
According to the Cartagena Health Area which covers both centres, 38 cases have been recorded in San Antón in the last seven days, and 203 contacts of these positives are under follow-up. The rate of positive PCR tests per 10,000 inhabitants is 25.6 percent.
In the Port of Mazarrón, 44 positive cases have been confirmed in the last week, and 112 contacts are under follow-up. The rate of positive PCR tests per 10,000 inhabitants is 41.2 percent.
The Mazarrón municipality has notified 64 cases in the last 7 days, and 121 in the last fortnight and has an IA accumulated incidence rate of 198.7 per 100,000 of population, which is above the regional average.
The orange phase includes the health centers of Fuente Álamo; Peral neighborhood; Cartagena East; La Unión and Mazarrón, while those at yellow level are Cartagena Oeste; Los Dolores; Casco Antiguo; La Manga; Los Barreros; Mar Menor; Santa Lucía and Molinos Marfagones.
When a centre is on red level, only telephonic appointments are available with the doctor unless there is an emergency situation. In the case that a presencial appointment is given, the patient is first assessed by a care worker before seeing a doctor in order to protect medical professionals and make sure the time of the doctor is being well spent.
A triage system also operates, so that patients arriving with respiratory symptoms are treated in a separate circuit from other patients, helping to isolate potential risk patients.
Patients attending Orange alert centres must request appointments in advance and telephone consultations are undertaken wherever possible.
As normal, continue to follow the health advice given to wear masks, wash hands and maintain social distancing and above all, be aware. There are more cases of covid now in the region than at any time during lockdown.
If you do think you are suffering from covid, call 900 12 12 12 or 112, do NOT go down to the health centre; you will be given an appointment to go for a test. Self isolate and do not go out until called back with an appointment.
