ARCHIVED - On the right track: Aguilas cleans up the railway line
Águilas Town Council is going to clear and clean up the train tracks
The Town Council of Águilas is taking on the work of clearing and cleaning the railway tracks as they pass through the town, to ensure the well-being of the residents, even though technically this task doesn’t fall under their jurisdiction.
The Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, explained in reference to the regional government that “on several occasions we have requested the cleaning of the train tracks due to the abundant proliferation of weeds, but thinking of our neighbours we have decided to speed up this process by starting the clearing of the tracks ourselves in the town centre.”
She went on to say that “once this clearing and weed removal work has been completed, the council will clean up the railway track in order to condition the area, reduce the vegetation that has grown due to the spring rains, prevent the proliferation of insects and minimise the risk of fire, which is increased by the high temperatures.”
