More cold and rain on the way for much of Spain: Weather forecast May 11-14
Temperatures will briefly recover early in the week before falling back below average again by Thursday and Friday

Average temperatures expected on Thursday May 14
Anyone hoping for a bit of respite after last week's stormy weather is sadly out of luck, for another few days at least. A cold low-pressure system sitting to the west of the mainland is keeping things unsettled to start the week and while it'll gradually weaken as the days go on, colder air pushing in from the north will take over and keep the instability going.

Weather outlook on Monday May 11
Monday May 11 and Tuesday May 12 will see the heaviest rain falling across the northwest and north of Spain, with some storms and hail possible in the worst-affected areas. The western part of the country will see conditions ease a little as the Atlantic storm loses strength, but it won't clear up completely.
The far south, on other hand, can look forward to mostly bright, sunny skies.

Weather outlook on Tuesday May 12
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), Wednesday May 13 will act as something of a breathing space before things shift again, with the arrival of colder Atlantic air masses setting the tone for the second half of the week.

Weather outlook on Wednesday May 13
By Thursday May 14, a front pushing into the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees will open the door to colder air and fresh rainfall spreading southwards from the north into central and eastern parts of the country. Thursday and Friday will bring locally heavy rain to the northeast and the Balearic Islands, with the possibility of it reaching further east and even into the southeast.

Weather outlook on Thursday May 14
The areas expecting the most significant rainfall totals across the week are the Cantabrian region and other parts of the northwest, although Catalonia and the northern Valencian Community will also see a fair amount. In the Canary Islands, northerly and north-easterly winds could bring rain to the northern parts of the larger islands.
Temperatures have been running below average lately and, although they're expected to nudge upwards in many areas at the start of the week, that won't last. By Thursday and Friday, they'll be sliding back down again, with many parts of the country ending the week cooler than you'd normally expect for mid-May.
