ARCHIVED - Mazarrón the hottest place in Spain on Wednesday with 27.3 degrees
The Costa Cálida basked in sunshine but snow could be on its way to north-west Murcia!
The effects of Storms Bernardo and Cecilia may be beginning to be felt all over mainland Spain, with red alerts for heavy snowfalls and waves of up to 10 metres in the north of the country and warnings of rain and strong winds in numerous parts of the country, but for one day on Wednesday the Region of Murcia basked in almost summery temperatures as the sun shone for most of the day.
The hottest place in the country was Mazarrón with an afternoon high of 27.3 degrees, followed by San Javier with 26.1 and various locations in the Canaries, while Torre-Pacheco and Águilas also featured in the top ten with maximums of 25.3.
However, not even the Costa Cálida is completely immune to the effects of transatlantic weather fronts, and by Thursday morning the skies had turned grey as temperatures dropped noticeably. Such is the geographical diversity of the Region of Murcia that by Thursday afternoon and Friday there could even be occasional snow showers at altitudes above 900 metres!
