ARCHIVED - Los Alcázares cancels street markets, cancels events and closes municipal installations
Los Alcázares has announced that the following measures will apply in the municipality as part of measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus:
All public events are hereby cancelled. All sporting, cultural and social events in the municipality organised by the town hall or associations will not take place in any of the municipal installations or public buildings.
All sporting activities of municipal clubs,or organised by the municipal services or SPA de Punta Calera are hereby cancelled.
The Centro Adolfo López and the Centro de día are closed.
All excursions, trips, gatherings and courses scheduled in or by municipal installations are hereby cancelled.
The weekly street markets on 14th and 17th March are hereby cancelled.
The regional educational authority is closing all schools from Friday afternoon onwards until the end of the month.
The town hall requests that residents do not go to the hospitals, health centres or doctors other than for urgent reasons.
All non-urgent appointments with the regional health service are being cancelled.
Follow the preventative instructions given by the regional health authorities:
- Wash hands frequently with either soap and water or a sanitiser gel
- Catch coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues – and throw the tissues away immediately after use before immediately washing your hands!
- If you don’t have a tissue, use your sleeve – and wash the item of clothing used at the next opportunity
- AVOID touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- AVOID close contact with people who are unwell
The regional government has set up a special helpline to supply information to members of the public (900 121212), and also urges people to call the 112 emergency services line if they suspect that they may have contracted the virus rather than going straight to hospital or to a medical centre. Medical staff will be sent to your home to test for the virus.
The Region’s public hospitals have limited the number of visitors to just one per patient and cancelled all non-urgent appointments so call your hospital or consultant if you have a non-urgent appointment rather than going to the hospital.
Other councils are recommending that residents follow the recommendation of the regional government and avoid gatherings of more than 30 people, including weddings, funerals, business and social gatherings etc.
Los Alcázares council also advises that residents only find information via official channels, but as these channels are only publishing information in Spanish, readers may prefer to follow the Murcia Today Facebook where a considerable volume of information from official sources is being published on a regular basis.
We cannot publish everything immediately, as resources are obviously limited and there are no contracts in the municipality to finance the costs, but enormous efforts are being made to supply as much information as possible during the evolution of this situation.
Please follow Murcia Today on Facebook to keep up to date with all the latest updates locally for the Region of Murcia and the main information for the rest of Spain: https://www.facebook.com/MurciaToday/. Please note, Facebook is limiting the number of posts we are able to make in local groups, and the sheer volume of incoming information is overwhelming, so all updates and cancellations of events etc in the Murcia region will be posted on this main page and may not be shared into many local groups. PLEASE help to support the flow and sharing of information by following this page and sharing the information into groups to which you have access.
