ARCHIVED - June 26 Free guided tour to see the flamingos in the salt flats of San Pedro del Pinatar
A chance to learn more about the spectacular birdlife of the salt flats of San Pedro
This is one of the regular visits scheduled during 2022 to observe the flamingos in the Regional Park of the Salt Flats of San Pedro del Pinatar, at the northern end of the Mar Menor.
The tour begins at 11.00 and follows an easy 2-kilometre route over the course of 2 hours, making it ideal for families with young children. Participants will be shown the beauty of the landscape and its ecosystem as well as the most important bird species within it, while topics addressed also include the importance to the environment of Posidonia oceanica sea grass and the pine grove of Coterillo, as well as the latest projects being undertaken within the LifeSalinas initiative.
The tour, which is free of charge, begins at the Rotonda de los Flamencos (the flamingo roundabout), and prior reservation is required here: scroll down to the calendar and select the preferred date. Further information is available from the regional park by telephone on 968 178139 or from the local tourist office on 968 182301 / 682 187677.
Registration can also be carried by email to inscripciones@sanpedrodelpinatar.es.
Those joining the walk are advised to wear comfortable footwear, to avoid wearing bright colours and to take plenty of sun cream, mosquito repellent, a cap, a snack and drinking water. Binoculars and a camera are also advised!
