ARCHIVED - Guardia dismantle San Javier to UK drugs operation
The arrested man was living on a golf resort as a second resident and is described as being of Indian origin
The Guardia Civil in San Javier have arrested a 34 year old man described as being “of Indian origin” and living on a golf resort in the Murcia region who is accused of sending regular shipments of marijuana to the UK.
During Operation Redblock, 1.250 kilos of drugs were seized by officers after a sniffer dog gave police reason to believe the package carried drugs and subsequently obtained a judicial order to open a parcel being sent to the UK, finding the drugs wrapped in several layers of protective wrapping which was impregnated with liquids in order to mask the scent of its contents.
The man apprehended reportedly lived on the urbanisation as a “second resident” and used a transport company in San Javier to send regular packages to the UK, always by the same company, although using different ID’s and sending the parcels to different addresses in the UK.
He appeared to have had no visible means of income although the press release specifically mentions “several high-end cars” in his possession.
The British authorities are collaborating in the investigation.
This is the third operation carried out against drug trafficking in San Javier in the last few days. In the 'Lodon' operation, the Civil Guard dismantled a criminal group made up of 14 people and dedicated to drug trafficking in the Mar Menor region, during which more than 300 marijuana plants and doses of cocaine, heroin and hashish were seized, as well as other effects related to drug trafficking.
Also in San Javier, and in collaboration with the Civil Guard of Gijón, Operation 'Codro' culminated in the dismantling of a drug shipment route from San Javier to Asturias. In this operation, two people were arrested and a large quantity of marijuana and doses of cocaine, heroin and hashish seized.
