Granada rattled by three earthquakes in one morning as tremors continue across Andalucía
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake centred in Gójar was followed by two further tremors within the space of an hour on Tuesday August 18

Granada has been shaken once again, with as many as three earthquakes striking in quick succession on Tuesday August 18, just days after the province was rattled by a significant tremor over the weekend.
The first of Tuesday's quakes struck at 10.37am with its epicentre in Gójar, registering a magnitude of 4.7 according to the National Geographic Institute, which confirmed the reading following a review.
A second earthquake followed shortly after, this time measuring magnitude 4 with its epicentre in Churriana de la Vega. The tremors didn't stop there, as the National Geographic Institute went on to report a further earthquake before 11am, this one measuring 2.9 in magnitude with its epicentre in Padul, at a depth of 10km.
Less than an hour after the first major tremor, a fourth earthquake struck at 11.37am, measuring 4.2 in magnitude and centred once again in Alhendín, the same area that had been the epicentre of the weekend's quake.
The strongest of Tuesday's tremors, the initial 4.7 magnitude earthquake, was felt across almost the entire province of Granada, as well as in the neighbouring provinces of Málaga, Almería and Jaén.
Three people were confirmed to have suffered injuries as a result of the earthquakes. Antonio Sanz, First Vice President of the Andalucían Regional Government, told the media that all three injuries were minor, though one of those affected, a young girl, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The regional government has had its Emergency Plan for seismic risk in Granada active since Friday, when a magnitude 5 earthquake centred in Alhendín first prompted officials to move to operational situation 1 within the emergency phase. Mr Sanz explained that the advisory committee responsible for overseeing the seismic risk emergency plan would be convened imminently in response to Tuesday's activity.
The tremors weren't limited to Andalucía either, as they were felt in various parts of the Region of Murcia too. According to the National Geographic Institute, residents reported feeling the earthquakes in Águilas, La Azohía, Lorca, Murcia, Mula, Bullas, Cehegín, Caravaca and Calasparra.
Emergency services in the Region of Murcia confirmed that no problems had been caused there, with the 112 service reporting that it hadn't received any calls related to the event.
