Dublin man, 41, drowns while on holiday in Spain

Tributes have been pouring in following the death of avid GAA fan and talented pool player Kieran Griffin after he lost his life in a drowning accident in Spain. The 41-year-old, from Knocklyon in Dublin, was holidaying with friends in San Sebastian in the north of the Basque Country when he died on Friday September 15.

Kieran was a lifelong member of Ballyboden St Endas GAA Club, and his pals took to Facebook over the weekend to express their sadness at his passing.

The post read: "It is with great sadness that we inform you that Ballyboden St. Endas member Kieran Griffin tragically lost his life in Spain last Friday 15th September.

"Kieran has been a member of Ballyboden St. Endas since his childhood playing both hurling and football from a young age.

"Kieran was also an avid pool player and recently won the Ballyboden St. Endas Club Doubles Pool Competition.

"Everyone at Ballyboden St. Endas would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Kieran’s heartbroken parents Danny and Josephine, his brothers Shay, Donál, Paul, Padráig, Michael, his sister Ann and his partner Sheena, and to the extended Griffin family including Denise, Tara, Sinead, Grace and Steven."

Comments flooded in from Kieran’s friends, who described him as !a lovely guy.!

According to RTE News, a minute’s silence was held in memory of Kieran ahead of all of Saturday’s senior St Endas games.
