Milk protein allergy sufferers are warned not to eat Beher cured pork loin

Already this summer batches of various foodstuffs have had to be withdrawn from Spanish supermarket shelves, including Nestlé ice-creams and French foie gras, and the latest product to be affected is cured pork loin (or “lomo”) cold meats marketed by the BEHER brand.

The problem identified in the lomo curado is the presence of milk proteins which are not correctly included in the labelling, presenting a threat to the health of people with milk protein allergies. The product has been distributed in practically all regions of Spain and is now being withdrawn due to this labelling flaw, but in the meantime members of the public are warned that the labels are not fully reliable.

All presentations and packagings of Beher lomo curado are affected, but the danger is only for those with milk protein allergies; there is no threat to the remainder of the population.
