Centro para la Artesanía, artisan centre in Murcia City
A wide range of quality artisan products are on sale at the centre throughout the year
The Murcia Region is full of talented artisans working in a vast range of disciplines and the regional artisan centres offer an outlet for items produced by registered regional artisans, with all items priced at "direct from the artisan prices."
These centres pull together thousands of items for sale, with ceramics, glass, leatherwork, jewellery, paper craft, textiles, esparto grass and even furniture and housewares all on sale and display together throughout the year.
Although there are many artisan fairs offering regional produce in different areas of the region, they are often at the weekends, so visitors to the City of Murcia can visit the regional centre and purchase well- priced hand crafted items throughout the year at their convenience.
There are many small pieces which can easily be packed into a suitcase as gifts or momentos, and the centre offers a free wrapping service for articles which are being given as gifts.
In amongst the hand-made craft items are also selected artisan food products, including wine, regional honey and honey products including hand-made honey sweets, and even the flavoursome ground red pepper made from the round Murcian peppers which grow in the region at the end of the summer, along with a selection of wine jams, chutneys and preserves.
However, Murcia has a long-standing tradition of producing hand-crafted goods, including furniture, lighting and fabrics and a selection of larger pieces can also be seen in the artisan centre, set in this striking modern building in the heart of the main shopping district of the city.
