Cartagena nudist beach voted as one of the best in Spain

The Spanish Naturism Federation (FEN) has voted the El Portús nudist campsite in Cartagena as one of the very best in Spain. The Region of Murcia as a whole has a long naturist tradition and offers bathers in the buff a wide variety of options, from private beach-side havens to idyllic mountain retreats.

According to FEN, the practice is going from strength to strength in Murcia, despite several attempts by the more conservative-minded to prohibit nudism, such as the 2017 municipal ordinance that banned stripping off on all the beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar.

The Federation’s website points out that "the Region of Murcia is the favourite tourist destination for many travellers, its climate, its heritage and its coast make Costa Cálida a perfect place to spend your holidays. El Portús Naturist Camping and the Costa Cálida's traditional nudist beaches are one of the best places to enjoy the natural Mediterranean Sea, do not hesitate to come to this beautiful region, look on the map for your favourite nudist beach."

As well as El Portús, the site also highlights the charms of the Playa Mónsul and the Playa de los Muertos beaches in Almeria; Torimbia, the oldest nudist beach in Asturias; Cantabrian enclaves such as Somocuevas, Valdearenas, El Puntal, Langre and Antuerta; El Torn beach in Tarragona; El Carabassi, with its dunes and pine forests in the Valencian Community; Ses Illetes beach in Formentera, which has been voted the best in all of Europe for several years; and Médano beach in Tenerife.

Closer to home, in the Region of Murcia, the article advises nudist bathers to check out other naturalist gems like the beaches of Rambla Elena, Parreño, El Charco, El Rafal, Calblanque and Los Dentones.

Gathering federated nudists from around the world, El Portús will host the XIII Southern European Naturist Meeting between Friday September 22 and Saturday September 30.
