Car full of Brits catches fire in San Javier

The vehicle, which was carrying four British holidayers to La Manga, burnt out this Sunday

A car carrying four British holidaymakers caught fire this Sunday April 27 on the RM-F24 road in Murcia, near the AP-7 bridge San Javier, not far from the Centro Comercial Dos Mares shopping centre.

According to sources in the emergency services, the occupants of the vehicle – four British citizens who were on their way to La Manga del Mar Menor to enjoy their holidays – were thankfully able to leave the vehicle just in time and escape unharmed.

None of them were injured and did not have to be taken to hospital or receive and sort of medical intervention, according to the emergency crew there at the time.

The car, however, was completely burnt out. Firefighters quickly smothered the flames but the vehicle was well and truly past salvaging.

There is no indication as to what caused the fire or whether or not the destruction of the vehicle will be covered by the rental company insurance, but at least everyone managed to get out safely and no one was harmed.
