ARCHIVED - Murcia Corvera overtakes six airports in national rankings
The Region of Murcia airport has experienced the third-largest passenger increase in Spain

After a huge boost during Holy Week, Corvera Airport in Murcia is well on its way to hitting pre-pandemic figures by welcoming no fewer than 83,241 passengers through its doors in April. This impressive number has boosted it six places in the national ranking to now stand in 21st place.
These results represent an extraordinary 3,766.3% year-on-year growth in just one month, the third largest increase in all of Spain and April’s passenger count was almost three times what it was in March (32,417 people).

The impressive April performance has pushed Corvera ahead of the likes of Zaragoza, Vigo and Jerez de la Frontera which were in the lead the previous month, and Murcia’s airport was only a meagre 10,000 passengers off beating Santander to make it into the top 20.
Most importantly though, the Aena ranking shows just how much Corvera is recovering since the pandemic hit two years ago, and passenger footfall in April was a mere 24.9% less than in 2019, the best result seen since the start of Covid.
It’s been a good year overall, and so far, 149,635 passengers have travelled through Corvera, more than half of those in April alone, which represents an increase of 2,372.9% compared to the first four months of 2019.
