ARCHIVED - 84 new Covid cases in Spain on Monday with 12 regions reporting outbreaks
The first week of new normality in Spain has been marked by outbreaks around the country
The Spanish Ministry of Health reported 84 new cases on Covid-19 on Monday, a much lower figure compared to that of Sunday, which was 118.
In total, 248,970 people have been infected by the virus in Spain since the Pandemic began.
Three new deaths were reported in the last day and 12 in the last seven days, so the total number of fatalities rises to 28,346.
In Spain, the first week without restrictions on mobility in Spain has been marked by a series of new outbreaks in 12 regions of Spain, posing a new challenge for control of the coronavirus pandemic. Although the decrease in restrictions and mobility between communities have not caused a significant increase in the number of cases, there are now 12 autonomous regions with outbreaks. Among them, those of greatest concern to the Ministry of Health are those of Aragon (with 320 infected) and one in Malaga (103).
The director of the Center for Coordination of Alerts and Health Emergencies, Fernando Simón, stated on Monday that "many are of no interest" and that "only 11" constitute " a matter of concern".
Given the appearance of these outbreaks of COVID-19, Murcia is considering the confinement of several municipalities in the event of a worsening of the situation, while in Santander, a hundred residents of a building have had to be isolated after a focus of 14 infections was detected.
Murcia examining plans to confine municipalities
The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, stated on Monday that the regional government is considering the confinement of several municipalities if the active outbreak which originated in three passengers on a flight from Bolivia on the 3rd June worsens. There are 32 positive cases in Beniel, Santomera and the capital.
The cases associated with this imported outbreak represent 32 of the 61 cases in the Region and is the one that most worries the regional Government, along with the 9 detected in a fruit and vegetable company in El Raal (Murcia). Health Minister, Manuel Villegas, considers the three affected in Torre Pacheco (from a second flight from Bolivia landing in Barajas on 10th June) and the positive of an irregular immigrant arriving in Águilas by boat, as under control.
On Monday three illegal immigrants arriving by boat in Cartagena tested positive, but these will not be included in the figures until Tuesday.
New outbreak in Castellón
Unlike Murcia, the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has ruled out on Monday the possibility of applying specific confinement in Rafelbunyol (Valencia) because the outbreak detected last week in a meat processing factory is "encapsulated". The number affected in this outbreak is 14, after 7 new cases associated with this focus were confirmed on Sunday.
The direction of Public Health of the Ministry of Health has confirmed this Monday an outbreak of coronavirus in Castellón de la Plana. It is a group made up of several family nuclei with a total of 16 positive cases, none serious. Everyone believed to be related to the outbreak has been isolated while contact tracking continues.
Lleida: controlled outbreaks
The Minister of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Alba Vergés, assured this Monday that the outbreaks detected in Lleida are controlled and that the symptoms of the positive patients are generally mild -except for the 18 belonging to a nursing home.
Extremadura, without new infections
An outbreak in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) has 22 infections but no new cases have been confirmed for the second consecutive day.
Cantabria: Contagions increase in the Santander building
The coronavirus outbreak detected in a Santander building has added one more positive, so the total now stands at 14. All cases have mild symptoms and are isolated. except for an 89-year-old woman, who had mild respiratory symptoms and has been transferred to the hospital. This focus has forced the confinement of a hundred people residing in the property.
Aragon leaves the affected regions in phase 2
The outbreak that has led three regions of Huesca and one of Zaragoza - all of them in the east of the Aragón region - to go back to phase 2 has now reached 320 positive cases. It is the most numerous registered to date and, together with that of Malaga, the one that most worries the Ministry and originates in an agricultural plant.
In addition, eight residences for elderly people still have coronavirus outbreaks, although only in four of them are "recent cases.
Andalucía
Malaga: An outbreak detected this Sunday in the municipality of Casabermeja, in the health district of the Axarquía in Malaga, is the tenth in Andalusia since the state of alarm was lifted. The new focus currently has six positives, but all are mild cases.
The Malaga capital is the site of the largest outbreak recorded to date in Andalusia, with 103 affected -thirteen more than the previous day- in a Red Cross migrant reception center, which is under investigation. Granada has five outbreaks (with 58 affected) and the other three are located in Campo de Gibraltar (Cádiz, 23), in Lepe (Huelva, 10) and in Almería (4).
New case in A Mariña
Two outbreaks have been reported in Galicia, one in Barbanza (La Coruña), which has dropped from nine to seven cases, and another in the A Mariña (Lugo) area, which has registered a new positive this Monday, bringing the total to 28.
Basque Country, three outbreaks "practically concluded"
The Orio (Guipúzcoa) outbreak, with 18 positives, continues to be the most active in the Basque Country. Those detected in previous weeks in the Basurto (Bilbao, with 45 cases) and Txagorritxu (Vitoria, with 15) are"practically concluded", according to Health Minister, Nekane Murga.
Castilla y León, no new cases associated with the Valladolid outbreaks
An outbreak detected at the Río Hortega Hospital in Valladolid on June 16th left 21 cases, while two outbreaks in private residences total 18. There are no new infections here since last Tuesday.
Canary Islands, outbreaks associated with boats
The arrival of two boats with infected migrants, two weeks ago, has caused more than thirty cases amongst illegal migrants.
Navarra, new positives but no confirmed focal point
In the Comunidad Foral in Navarra, a steady drip of new positives for coronavirus continues, but none associated with the existing outbreaks: one in the Pamplona region and the other in Sunbilla.
