With a fabulous forecast of blue skies and mild temperatures throughout Almería this weekend, this Saturday is a pretty perfect excuse to lace up your walking boots and get outside. The popular Pirate Route is back, and as always it's completely free thanks to Mojácar Town Hall.

 

The route runs from Sopalmo Parking at 9.30am on Saturday April 18, taking in the beautiful and largely unspoilt natural surroundings of Playa de la Granatilla before looping back to the start.

 

It covers just over 6km in total and takes around two and a half hours, with a moderate difficulty rating, so it's manageable for most reasonably fit walkers but worth bearing in mind if you're bringing younger children or anyone who struggles on uneven terrain.

 

Pack plenty of water, a hat and comfortable shoes before you head out.

 

To take part you'll need to register in advance by calling 950 615 025. The deadline to sign up is 11am on Friday April 17, so don't leave it too late.
