Another British tourist, 64, falls to his death in Spain
The holidaymaker plunged from the sixth floor of a Palma car park in front of horrified onlookers
Dozens of hotel guests watched on in horror as a 64-year-old British man plummeted from the sixth floor of a public car park near the popular Saratoga Hotel in Palma de Mallorca over the weekend.
According to the stunned eyewitnesses, shortly before the 2pm on Sunday September 1, the Briton was seen tumbling from the skylight of the central Palma multi-storey car park. The garage is located right beside the busy hotel, and unsuspecting holidaymakers watched firsthand as the tragedy unfolded.
Although emergency workers were on the scene almost immediately, the man could not be saved. His body was transferred to Hospital Universitari Son Espases where a post-mortem will be carried out, but investigators are not currently treating his death as suspicious.
This is sadly only the latest in a long list of Brit falls in Spain.
Last Tuesday night, a 15-year-old British girl was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after an incident at a first-floor property in Mallorca. The teenager was stabilised at the scene before being transferred to Son Espases Hospital in Palma, the island's capital city.
These incidents come on the heels of two other recent tragedies. In one incident, a 19-year-old Scottish teenager, Emma Ramsay, from Hamilton, fell to her death from a sixth-floor hotel balcony in San Antonio, Ibiza, where she had been vacationing with friends.
The other incident involved a 28-year-old British tourist who suffered a fatal 15-foot fall in Palmanova, Mallorca, after a night out. His partner, traumatised by the event, was treated for a panic attack.
Local authorities believe the latter incident may have been a result of the man accidentally entering the wrong hotel and losing his way while trying to find a shortcut.
