Mari Carmen Moreno, the Mayoress of Águilas, has announced a series of measures being implemented by the Town Hall in order to provide financial and economic help to those suffering the consequences of the coronavirus emergency, many of them designed to help the self-employed as well as employers and staff whose activity has been discontinued during the lockdown.
The measures include the following:
🔺 The payment of tariffs by traders for the right to set up stalls in the weekly outdoor market and the indoor “plaza de abastos” food market is suspended for as long as both markets are closed.
🔺 Discounts will be provided for the tax on water supply and rubbish collection.
🔺 Once the confinement period has come to an end bars and restaurants will receive rebates on the amounts paid for licences to open outdoor terraces.
🔺 Refunds will be granted to those who have subscribed for sporting activities which have not been held due to the coronavirus lockdown.
Sra Moreno has also announced that the possibility of re-arranging the scheduled payment dates for local taxes is being looked into with a view to postponing payment of the “IBI” property tax and the road traffic tax.
Explaining these initiatives, the Mayoress adds that the local council is well aware of the financial difficulties being faced by many as a result of the public health crisis and is attempting to make the negative effects less drastic by the introduction of these measures.
