In addition, councillor Tomás Consentino reiterated that in the few cases in which a second occupant is permitted the Passenger must travel on the rear seat and on the passenger side of the vehicle rather than directly behind the driver. This is the case, for example, when young children have to accompany a parent to go out due to no other carer being available.
At the same time, when agricultural and other workers are being transported in coaches or minibuses only 30 per cent of the capacity may be used: for example, in a minibus for nine people only three may travel.
Failure to obey these rules during the coronavirus emergency may result in fines of between 300 and 1,000 euros, and all over Spain the forces of law and order have stated that after a week of allowing for people to get used to the restrictions they are now toughening up their insistence on enforcing the regulations.
