ARCHIVED - Aguilas prepares two weeks of events to celebrate International Womens Day

There will be a series of activities to raise awareness of equality over the next couple of weeks, including talks, plays and escape room games
This Wednesday March 8 is International Women’s Day, and in
Águilas the Department of Equality at the Town Council has prepared a whole week full of activities to celebrate women and their contributions to the local area and to the world.
Among the highlights of the day, according to the Councillor for Equality, Elena Casado (pictured), will be the reading of the institutional manifesto at 12 noon.
Then, on Thursday March 9 at 8 pm in the
Infanta Doña Elena Auditorium, there will be a performance of the play “El tintero violeta”, directed by Adela Mendiola and represented by the group of the Taller de Teatro Sociedad Fénix. It is absolutely free of charge to go and watch, and will be followed by the International Festival Gritos de Mujer 2023 “Mother of the Earth”, with the collaboration of women writers from Águilas, a recital by Magdalena Sánchez Blesa and a recognition of women in the history of associations in Águilas.
On Friday March 10 from 5 pm to 7 pm in the
Robles Vives Park, there will be games for children aimed at raising awareness of equality, with the participation of the Red Cross Youth, Socialist Youth, Scouts Renfe and Scouts Severo Montalvo.
On Saturday March 18 from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm, you can take part in an Escape Room activity which has been funded through the Corresponsables Plan.
On Tuesday March 21 at 8 pm in the
Casa de la Cultura, there is a free talk on the topic of “Urban development: the violet seed” with the participation of A. Elena Martínez from Somos_Simiente and Lorena Rosique from Vivens Hortís.
The International Women’s Day programme will conclude on Saturday March 25 with another Escape Room, this one entitled “Women in Time”, starting at 4.30 pm in the Huerto Don Jorge. This activity will be carried out in collaboration with the Primary and Secondary Schools of Águilas, Fundown and the Urci Occupational Centre.
