ARCHIVED - Aguilas is fed up of vandalism in the parks
The latest example of costly destruction is the swing for disabled children in Robles Vives park
It’s always a shame when benches, bins and other street furniture are vandalised without cause, ruining the image and good reputation of the community.Now, the Councillor for Green Areas in Águilas, Bartolomé Hernández, is fed up of vandals disrespecting the areas of the town which are meant for all, especially those most in need.
For instance, he reported that the swing adapted for children with motor disabilities located in the Robles Vives inclusive park has recently had to be replaced because it “has been repeatedly vandalised.
He lamented that “these intentional actions lead to the deterioration of the heritage of all aguileños” and that “the replacement of the swing that was completely destroyed intentionally has cost the municipal coffers 1,821 euros”.
In the same vein, Councillor Hernández has appealed to the public to respect the street furniture and not to commit this type of uncivic acts. “It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our parks in a good state of repair,” he concluded.
