Click HereThe Playa del Pocico del Animal is one of a long series of unspoilt and picturesque beaches and coves which lie on the eastern coast of the municipality between the headland of Cabo Cope in the south and the Playa de la Galera, which marks the boundary with Lorca a few kilometres further north.
This little beach is 65 metres long and 13 metres wide, and the surface is sand and fine pebbles although there are rocks under the water a few metres offshore.
Beachgoers will not be surprised that there are no services in this area of coastline, and would probably find it much less attractive were these natural covers dotted with beachbars and footwashes, so common sense dictates taking everything, although there is plenty of good staple Spanish food available at the El Pocico restaurant at the mouth of the Rambla Elena.
This is one of a string of beaches along a coastal track which can be accessed from the RM-D15 road: the northern end of the track is best reached by heading off the road at the bar-restaurant El Pocico and following tracks across farmland down to the coast, while the southern end heads back up to the road at Playa del Rafal. The driving on this route is far from conventional, but if taken slowly is not especially dangerous and off-road vehicles are not a necessity!
There are several beaches which are all similar along this stretch of coastline.

The map below shows the access via the Rambla de Elena; follow the coastline up and this is the second beach up after the mouth of the rambla.
