Águilas beaches: Cala de Pozo Huertas
The cove of Pozo Huertas is one of a string of undeveloped beaches in Aguilas
The Cala de Pozo Huertas is a small unspoilt cove which forms part of a long series of wild and picturesque beaches and coves which lie on the eastern coast of the municipality between the headland of Cabo Cope in the south and the Playa de la Galera, which marks the boundary with Lorca a few kilometres further north.
It's a curved cove, or cala, 55 metres long and 11 metres wide, surrounded by a rocky bas, with a sand and pebble surface, with a flat shelf of rocks spreading out into the water a few metres offshore. The cove is hemmed in by two headlands, and is therefore protected to a certain extent in wavy conditions.

This is one of a string of beaches along a coastal track which can be accessed from the RM-D15 road: the northern end of the track is best reached by heading off the road at the bar-restaurant El Pocico and following tracks across farmland down to the coast, while the southern end heads back up to the road at Playa del Rafal.
The map shows this as being one of a number of small coves and wild beaches along this section of coastline, which can be accessed in a number of places, although the most popular is to drive down alongside the El Pocico restaurant at the mouth of the Rambla de Elena and turn left to follow the coastal path along and up the beaches. These are all pretty much along the same lines and as is only to be expected, there are no services. The restaurant offers practical Spanish menus and tapa, so beachusers either take a picnic or head back to this spot for refreshments.

The map is set to show the easiest access point via the Rambla, just zoom in and follow the path up the coast.
This is the 33rd beach in the series of 36 Águilas beaches which run along the 28 kilometres of Águilas coast, working from the Almería coastline in the west down to the Lorca municipality and offer both urban and wild beaches.
