ARCHIVED - A 50-metre toboggan slide, ice skating and UFO laser battles at the Christmas Fair in Murcia this year!
5 weeks of fairground attractions and winter sports in the capital of the Costa Cálida!
This year’s edition of the annual Christmas Fair in the city of Murcia promises to be the biggest and most dynamic yet, including a 50-metre snow slide and high-altitude laser battles at the La Fica fairground area behind the Auditorio Víctor Villegas.
Full details and timings have not been announced yet, but the fair will be held from Saturday December 3 to Sunday January 8. The Asociación Empresarial Ferias de Murcia (AEFM), who are in charge of organizing it, are planning to install not only the traditional fairground attractions but also a range of other novelties designed to attract as many visitors as possible, with numbers likely to be boosted by the absence for the second year running of the giant Christmas tree and surrounding activities which in the past have filled the Plaza Circular.
The Christmas fair will be promoted as the “Reino Mágico de Murcia” (the magical kingdom of Murcia), and as was the case last year as many as 100,000 2-for-1 tickets will be available for use between Monday and Thursday during its run. These cut-price tickets will be available from the local council department of Cultura, Turismo y Deportes and families in need will be prioritized.
In addition, January 8 will be the “Día del Niño”, with prices slashed by half on all rides and attractions and a maximum price of 5 euros.
But the most popular attractions are likely to be the 50-metre snow slide and the whirling ride known as “Base UFO”, which allows users to take part in mid-air battles using laser weapons.
Aside from this, there will once again be an ice rink and the traditional Christmas market, and 700 free parking spaces are to be provided.
It goes without saying that food and drink are also important for an event of this size and nature, and this year there will be seven food trucks offering a range of snacks including Belgian hamburgers, Argentinian dishes and the more typically Spanish gofres, crepes and churros!
