ARCHIVED - 5th and 7th December Christmas lights switch on in Murcia City

The city of Murcia starts its Christmas celebrations on Thursday 5^th December at 18:00 when the lights are switched on for 2019/20.

The Christmas lights are being switched on in Murcia city by the Mayor at 18:00 in Plaza Fuensanta, followed by a series of free open-air concerts in various streets and plazas between 18:30 and 21:15.

As follows:

18.30 : Plaza de Camachos (Route 33, rockabilly 50´s)

18.45: Glorieta de España (Amarela, cantautor)

19.00 : Apóstoles (Amber Kay y Jesús Hernández, lírico)

19.15: Plaza de Europa (Austin Slack, pop británico)

19.30 : Plaza Beato Andrés Hibernón (Tovarich, jazz pop vocal)

19.45 : Plaza Santo Domingo (Marula, fusion soul funk flamenco)

20.00 : Alfonso X (Juan Antonio Chacón, flamenco)

20.15 : Santa Catalina (Miguel A. Delgado, cantautor folk)

20.30: C/ Del Pilar (Malaspina, rock)

20.45 : Plaza Esteve Mora (Sergio Vellido, pop de autor)

21.00 : Plaza Fontes (Juanma Ruiz, acoustic rhapsody)

21.15 : Plaza Hernández Amores (Vanessa Soul, soul indie)

La Plaza Santo Domingo will have a 20 metre high tree and four further trees are being positioned in Plaza Castilla, avenida de la Libertad and avenida Alfonso X el Sabio.

This year the fashion for taking selfies has added an extra Xmas attraction in the form of photocall points in principal shopping locations including Alfonso X, Avda. Libertad, Esteve Mora, Plaza de la Cruz, Paseo Fluvial, Plaza Romea, Santa Catalina and the Iglesia del Carmen.

Christmas lights will be lit in the city daily between 18:00 and 23:00

On Saturday 7th December at 18:30 the attractions and Christmas lights tree in Plaza Circular are being switched on, with the promise of a sound and light show full of surprises.
