ARCHIVED - 20th to 23rd November Villa de Mazarrón ornithological fair
Budgies, canaries and zebra finches among 1,400 small songbirds on display at the Centro Cultural in Mazarrón
The second “Villa de Mazarrón” ornithological competition is being held from 15th to 23rd November at the local Centro Cultural in Mazarrón, with the event open to members of the general public between 20th and 23rd November.
This event is a meeting point for breeders and fanciers of budgerigars, canaries and other small birds from all over the country, and the 2019 edition features the regional competition of Murcia which was cancelled due to the flooding in Los Alcázares in September. The judging in a variety of competition categories is taking place between 17th and 19th November, and by the time the doors open to the public they will be able to see around 1,400 birds, far more than the 900 which had originally been expected.
As well as budgies and canaries other birds featured include goldfinches, linnets, lovebirds, zebra finches and red siskins, and visitors are welcome from 20th to 23rd November from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 21.00, except on the final day when the prizegiving ceremony is held at 17.00.
