100-year-old ficus tree cordoned off to stop people slipping on sap

The ficus tree in Águilas’s La Glorieta has started its natural process of sap exudation

One of the hundred-year-old ficus trees in La Glorieta, Águilas has been fenced off in order to prevent pedestrians from falling due to a natural process of sap exudation.
The local Councillor for Gardens, José Luis Moreno, pointed out that, after an exhaustive study by the company in charge of the garden maintenance service, it has been determined that “this is a completely natural process which poses no danger to the tree; however, in order to prevent the accumulation of this sap on the ground which could cause a passerby to fall over, it has been decided to cordon off the area.”
