ARCHIVED - Águilas intensifies disinfection in the streets to minimise coronavirus spread
Streets are being deep-cleaned with a sodium hypochlorite-based disinfectant
The town hall of Águilas, the Ayuntamiento de Águilas, is undertaking additional intensive cleaning in the streets and of street furniture as a preventative measure to limit the spread of Covid-19 in the municipality.
The councillor for municipal services, Isabel Fernández, explained that the cleaning is being undertaken using high pressure equipment and a sodium hypochlorite-based disinfectant; a cleaner with a high viricidal effect.
Particular attention is being paid to areas in which businesses are still offering essential products and services to the general public within the conditions of the State of Emergency and confinement decree, particularly around food shops, petrol stations, health centres and pharmacies. Cleaning is being undertaken throughout the municipality, although the frequency of the cleaning is necessarily more intensive in these areas.
The councillor has also requested the assistance of members of the public in relation to the disposal of household rubbish.
This should be deposited in the correct rubbish and recycling bins between the hours of 20:00 and 22:00 in order to minimise unpleasant odours for residents. All rubbish should be deposited in closed bags and rubbish and other household waste should not be left loose in the street.
The councillor concluded by thanking the workers of the municipality who are undertaking this additional unpleasant task as part of a huge effort by all of the municipal services personnel to contain the outbreak for their service and commitment to the well-being of the local community
