ARCHIVED - Aguilas port damaged due to storm
The Town Council is already putting together a protection plan to repair the damages and prevent further destruction in future storms

The Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, this morning, together with the Regional Minister for Infrastructures, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, visited the local port and Nautical Club in order to begin to assess the damage caused by the strong storm that hit the Southwest Murcia town yesterday.
Mayor Moreno took the opportunity to praise “the great work carried out by the Red Cross, the Civil Protection Service, Local Police, Sea Rescue and the Fishermen of Águilas who joined the preventive measures put in place yesterday afternoon with the aim of minimising the material damage caused by the storm.”
The area around the port was particularly badly hit, with the wind creating huge waves that threw the boats around and caused a certain amount of damage.
¡Impactante! Esta noche (04/04/2022), situación en el Puerto de #Águilas (#Murcia). For this reason, the Mayor stressed the need to implement, as soon as possible, the necessary emergency measures to repair the damage caused in the port area, as well as the undertaking of a larger-scale project to offer greater protection and shelter to the boats moored there in future.
Nonetheless, the Mayor, who yesterday witnessed first-hand the great efforts made by all those involved in the prevention plan, assured that “The material damage that has been caused would have been much greater, especially to the boats, without the important work done yesterday by all of them.”
